*SPOLIERS* My FNAF Movie Thoughts/Review

Posted by Cacky0077 - October 29th, 2023

I did enjoy the movie however I don’t think it’s perfect. I think the movie was lacking in story and horror, in certain areas! The animatronics were amazing and looked identical to their game counterparts and the pizzeria looked great! I got a kick out of all the references and fan service as well as the YouTuber cameos! However I think the film could have been executed way better in terms of the story! I liked Josh Hutcherson as Mike! I liked his performance overall as Mike. I think William Afton was great but there was one HUGE issue I had with him! He was barely in the movie and I was very disappointed with that. There should have been more scenes with him exploring his character and slowly revealing himself to the audience, it would have made the reveal and ending much better and would have added to his character more, as well as Vanessa’s! Vanessa could have also been explored more in the movie as well as her ties with her father, maybe a flashback showing what their relationship was like! Instead they just have Vanessa explain who William Afton is and what he does rather than showing us. I did like Matthew’s performance as Afton and the ending scene with him was pretty cool! I did not care for the stuff with Aunt Jane to be honest, I did not find it interesting and I didn’t care for her. Perhaps it could have worked and had been more interesting if it was executed better but I didn’t care for it. I think the Animatronics were probably the highlight of the movie! However I think they could have been executed better. The scene with Mike, Vanessa, and Abby playing with Freddy and The Gang was a nice scene but felt out of place and ruined the tone and tension of the movie. Perhaps the Animatronics could have become more friendly at the end after defeating Afton and finding out what he did to them, maybe Mike would have a big fight/chase with Afton getting his ass kicked or being hunted down. Maybe Vanessa tries to convince the animatronics not to hurt Abby or Her by showing them the truth of what Afton did to them. Mike would get cornered by Afton or be wounded from fighting him and about to be killed by Afton but then the Animatronics show up and William has his villianous breakdown and gets springlocked. Perhaps a fight with Mike and William could work as well, Having Mike try and fight back against William out of pure anger for murdering his brother, Meanwhile having Abby and Vanessa deal with Freddy and Co. This stuff might not be perfect and might be pretty cliche but I think it would at least add to the film and the story. In terms of Horror I think we should have gotten more scenes of the animatronics in action during Mike's nights working there! It feels like the animatronics didn’t actually do their thing, roaming around, being creepy, and trying to kill mike, during the actual “five nights at freddy’s” until like night 5. The whole movie should have had Mike trying to desperately survive from the animatronics and keeping them out of the office, while trying to find answers as to who kidnapped/killed his missing brother. It would have opened more opportunities to see the animatronics at their best and added to the overall horror of the film! Also I feel like some scenes happened too quickly like the prologue with the previous night guard or Mike getting fired from his previous job at the mall, but maybe that’s me. Overall the FNAF Movie was Enjoyable and good fun for FNAF Fans but pretty flawed and lacking in story and horror but it's definitely nice to finally see this movie come out and to see these characters on the big screen.
